'Rocket Heart 2.0' HeartCon II: design highlights of a 75-gram maglev blood pump
Beijing Anzhen Hospital completed the capital's first HeartCon II implant, bringing a domestic new-generation maglev artificial heart into clinical practice.
Smaller, lighter, safer
At ~75g and 21.5mm thick, it is an exceptionally small maglev pump that needs no in-pump sensors; with no circuit board, sensors or electronics inside, intrinsic safety is higher and it suits very-low-weight patients and minimally invasive implantation.
Performance and hemocompatibility
At 1,400–3,600 rpm it delivers up to 10 L/min; the smaller pump doesn't trade off higher speed, so blood damage is low and hemocompatibility beats peers, with low temperature rise and high reliability.
Wider use and self-controlled IP
Beyond full-flow left-heart support for adults, it can assist adolescents and children, with potential for right-heart failure; it stays med-engineering integrated with fully self-owned IP and all components made domestically for controllable cost.
